RE: Custom builders & quality rant
Is the company MC Motorsports? I bought my wheels from them and the hubs were incorrect. They sent another set of hubs but I ended up having the shop make front spacers to get it to work. They didn't want to talk to me and insisted to the mechanic that the hubs were correct.

Ive builta fewbikes over the years & owned 2 bike shops
Heres a few I remember.
- 3 inch belt drive kit where the pulleys didnt match
- New RevTech 5 speed trans with the main shaft locked up because of bad boring, try getting tech support from CustomChrome
- NewDrag Specrear wire wheel missing 2 spokes
- UPS delivered an S&S motor that was badly damaged due to handling, the wooden crate was busted open
- Chromed billet parts with holes not tapped
- Chrome shop lost a custom swingarm
- Paint shop painted the wrong colors , supposed to be blue, was delivered red
You get the point.....Badsuppliers is one of many reasons I got out of the bike business
Im having the same issues with the windshield business. No one wants to build the Aero for me.
Sheet metal shop is 2 months behind schedule making some trim work, no real excuse from them
The t-shirt guy took my money then left town
But I carry on...LOL

RE: Custom builders & quality rant
[ul][*]Many people in the motorcycle business do not/have not rode a bike, much less own one. They do not use a motorcycle as a preferred mode of transportation.[*]Many people in the motorcycle business do not take the time to work on motorcycles and do the job for themselves with their own products.[*]Many people in the motorcycle business do not/have no experience actually working on motorcycles.[*]Many people in the motorcycle business do not spend the money to test their products, get certifications, and use the product before selling it.[*]Many people who build their own bikes (not your good indy shop) and buy from those in the motorcycle business do not research the components, quality, ask for drawings, and understand what parts they are purchasing.[/ul]*Please make no mistake I an not referring to anyone in this thread but relying on 40 years of being around motorcycles and building them. (I started building my first motorcycle when I was 16 years). The crap that is available and what I bought in the past is where I learned this from.
An educated buyer is one who will will have the quality product he planed on. Just do not go through a parts book! As far as sent wrong parts, that happens in the work force in every field including Doctors, car manufactures, et al.
