Had the complete inner fairing (including cap) custom painted, metallic Vivid black. This has to be one of my favorite mods so far. Just looks awesome! Adds a perfect contrast, metallic really stands out in the sun. Prepped, primed, paint and clear, $135. Way cheaper than factory. Nice to get rid of the dull, hard to clean, plain plastic. Waiting on the chrome radio/gauge surround to finish it off. Skull radio faceplate already installed.

 

Did you have it painted while it was still on the bike??

 

I had mine painted Lava Red. Picked it up yesterday. Because I hit a deer last July I had my fender, outer fairing, lower right fairing, Gas Tank, tour kit and right saddle bag repaired and repainted. Since I had all that pulled, I also pulled the inner fairing and had it painted. $800 total and it came out great. Now to put it back together with all the goodies I bought in the interim.

I was going to leave the pipes alone until I saw your awesome ride. Now I've got the T-rex and can't wait to light up the neighborhood.

Right on . I took mine to a Body Shop and had it painted Vivid Black. I have to thank Bruce my mechanic,friend for recomending doing it while the bike was apart chroming the front end. Saved some labour.

 

To those who went to the gloss inner fairing:

Any problems with glare comning off the inside and causing problems?

I met a guy who has the same thing on his Road Glide and loves the look but not the glare.

Any thoughts?

Blaine, that is awesome looking. Makes me wish I had mine painted when I had everything off but the inner fairing.

I may have to revisit the idea of doing the inner now.

 

It looks good, and I bet it even looks better in person too. I like the way the skull radio plate looks too.

Looks nice, I think Harley is now selling color matched inner fairings too. Does the sun give any problems with glare back at you ?

 

The only glare I get is the reflection of my smile off the inner fairing! The picture does not do it justice.
