Why do you guys use 75-90 in the tranny? Why do you choose that over the 20W-50 you put in the other two holes?

+ 2 here for the Amsoil but I like to run Amsoil 75-90 severe gear in my tranny.
Yup.

Until I became a commercial dealer for Amsoil (I do not sell Amsoil I only use it in my personal vehicles and service trucks) an got educated, I thought all synthetics lasted 25,000 miles or there about. Wrong! Some are designed for only 5000 mile intervals. Even Amsoil carries a sythentic designed for 5,000 mile intervals. I use the 25,000 mile stuff though I change it much sooner than that.

Sure, 20W-50 can be used in all three holes, and makes it more convienent only having to carry one bottle around, but I differ from that. I use the 20W-50 in the engine, but use the Amsoil 75w-90 in the trans (severe gear oil designed for the transmission). I also used the 20w-50 in the primary, but it really does not need it. Kind of over kill, and the extra slickness of the oil has caused soime to think that it makes their clutch slip (from what I read, but did not notice it). I now use the cheaper HD formula + in the primary (also designed for the trans and primary). Doesn't make a huge differnce, money wise, but works for me just fine. As for oil filter, I have done a few different ones. I am running the HD one, right now, because I could locate one when I needed it. But, I find that the K & N filter is nicer, having the nut on the end for removal. I have not tried the Amsoil one, but read that it does not filter as well as either the K & N, or the HD filter... Just food for thought...
