Default T-Rex 3" True Duals first impressions...**UPDATED**

Well, these arrived a couple of days ago. No major cosmetic flaws...although I would like them to pay a little more attention to the welds..no biggie though.

Next, the instructions...WHOLY CRAP Hard Krome...how about some QA when it comes to this. The pages were not in order, I did not get all the pages, I got pages for other pipes other than the ones I ordered and DAMN...if you say to refer to a picture in the instructionsINCLUDE THE DAMN PICTURE!!!!! This would have made a 4 hour job 2 hours.

Fit...I'm a little disappointed with this as well. The left passenger peg does not fold up all the way...the last 1/4" and hits the pipe/heat shield. Also, more importantly, the right floorboard mount hits the pipe too. A simple floorboard extention would fix this.

Hardware...I think the ONLY hardware I received that was correct was the under the seat bracket and even then the bolt for that was a little long for my taste. The other hardware that came with the pipes was useless.

Now...I can work pass all this because...the pipes sound AWESOME!!!! What a Harley is suppose to sound like!!!! And, I dig the way they look. This is a love/hate relationship between me and my pipes.

I thought that all true duals at least supplied a 1/2" spacer for the right side footboard. The Rinehart true dual has such a kit included with the pipes.

Not these. I mean, at least mine didn't.

I hope you've got something to richen it up, or are you running a stock a/c??

Found this out the hard way. HD doesn't make a canned map for TD's. With the hi-flow a/c, it caused a heat score on the heat shield of my Bub 7 TD's. This was even with their Stage 1 flash.

Got the pictures to show you where to watch for it if you want.

Thanks for the head's up!!! They did a re-map when the 103" kit was installed. I was a little weary when I asked if they should do the re-map after I installed the pipes or if I decide on a SE Heavy Breather A/C (instead of the A/C supplied in the kit)...they said "you should be fine". OK.

I will eventually decide on some type of tuner...just not sure yet. I was hoping the re-map will tie me over until then. Hmmm...

You can make a spacer by getting a piece of pipe measure what you need and cut. I think mine were 1/2 inch pipe by about 3/8 inch thick. I've looked for some good pictures how close the heat shields come to the head and don't have anything of detail.

Glad that you like the loudness of them. I know every time that I rode mine with out the baffle disc's I'd installed I was on pins an needles around any of the local police. And could not hear the stereo for that matter. They are loud.

congratulations, inmoyou now have the best looking pipes, when installing them you should have used a crowbar to set your clearances and them tighten in place. plus they should have come with the spacer.
