Default Cams must be ordered tomorrow, final thoughts.

Dealer called and left a message that the Andrews cam and kit is now available and he is ready to place my order. I have settled on the 26G gear driven cam but wanted to know if anyone wants to try and talk me in to my second choice, the 21G cam. I was going to wait on the big bore kit but couldn't hold my pants on so I sent a set of cylinders off to have them bored to 95". Hell, I'm even thinking about head work. Does this stuff ever end? Anyway, one consideration I have is gas milage. I'm getting 43 MPG (48 if I'm extra gentle on the throttle) right now. I don't want a big drop. Actually I don't want any drop in milage. Does anyone have any info on these two cams as it relates to my milage concerns. I'm looking for more torque for my RKC and don't mind giving up some HP if it helps with the milage thing. I did speak to the Andrews tech guy and he said to go with the 26G as the 21G is barely more than stock. He sounded like an aggressive type though and I'm not. Opinions, please?

26g's Hands Down for the 95 inch dresser/heavy bike.I had 2 previous twin cams built in the past & tried S&S570g,Kuryakyn TC2g,55g.All previous builds had SE heads & at least 10:1 compression. The 55g set up w/SE heads worked the best for the RKC.But the 10:5:1comp ratio & the cost for the little extra HP was not worth it to me.My 3rd TC build:Is a 06 Softail w/37G's,Rev Perf 98inch kit,1550 stg1 flash,TFI box & a mild blend of the heads 9:7:1.All work done by Steve @GMR.This is the smoothest, fastest, hardest pulling & runs cooler(phoenix az), HD I have owned. It makes power very easy & has never been back to the shop.I can't say that about the other builds. My RKC seemed noisy, working hard to make power. It had roller rockers head work etc.100 hp 105 tq w/the old Magnetti-Marelli efi. Anyway,My point:Its easy to over cam & move the power higher, increase compression spend lots of $$$ for a little more power,in the RPM range that my Dresser does not live.My only regret is I did not find out about the 98inch kit, before I had Harley Stealer do the st1 1550 on my 05 ElectraGlide(had to take the bike back for non flash, muffler falling off & fixed the rubbing exhaust myself).Ralph at Andrews told me he did a 95inch motor w/some head work & 26g cams & made 106 ft lbs of Tq.Dewey also steered me towards the 26 kit.I ride at least 30k per year.Having your machine done ONCE is where its at.Folks will take your money all day long.Hope you get good advise & make a wise choice.I'm buying gas instead of Dyno time.Regards,Tom

Tom is right on the money...Sounds like he's speaking from some good experience. If you have any plans at all of doing a 95" kit, the TW-26 is the cam you want (of those two options). With head work and higher compression, the 37 becomes a great alternative.

Can't offer any opinions on the cam choices, as Iam on the fence myself. All I wanted to add is that I like the way you think!

Less bread pudding will let you use a Smaller cam.

Robert? Is that you? Or is it a coincidence that some one would bring up my favorite dessert. I seriously always ask if the restaurant I'm eating in has bread pudding.
