ORIGINAL: Cruise

the farther you get from a wheel barrow type wrist postion on the bars and closer to a lawn mower postition the better your back, neck, wrists, arms, and butt will feel. wink
I hear ya, but with the lawn mower type bars after250 miles my neck/shoulders were so stiffmy wife would hav to beat and message me while driving. I could not imagine doing800.
You are a true tourer. I would need my Lazy Boy seat for that. [sm=smiley1.gif]

Can't wait till August 105th in WI to REALLY try out the bars. I will be about a 400 mile one way ride for us.

You really didn't tell us what lawn mower style bars you have tried. The stock bars are just as wheel barrow (pull back) as they come. The father the "pullback" they are the more wheelbarrow they are . Most of the wild ones are just stock pull back and sometimes even more. Don't confuse "pullback" with reach. Pullback is the awkward angle of the bars that put them like pushing a wheelbarrow. That puts a strain on your wrists, back, shoulders, neck, and even butt. Sure over stock most need closer reach but that is not through "pullback" angle of the bars but in less reach and comfort comes through straightened out wrists angle. Let us know how your 400 mile ride treats ya.

All I know is that I can cruise now for at least 200 miles without even a hint of burn or pain. Others onthe boards had the same problem and the 517's made it go bye bye. I then met a guy in Omaha that had a set on his RG. Said he rides to South Dakota a lot and is about 6 hours.Bars were great.

I think handle bars are like seats... Each person has to find the one that works for them.

I will do a 400 ride before August and will be sure to let you all know how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may try both. %17's won't fit on my Ultra.
