Any experience with Ride-On Tire Protection Sealant?
For those who have not heard of this, it appears to be a Slime type product which you put into tires (although touted as superior in being non-corrosive and also designed specifically for high-speed applications) to prevent loss of air in the event of a puncture. I am about to enbark on a 2000 mile trip with spoked rims / tubed tires and want to improve my odds a little from just calling the tow truck. My thoughts are that it can't hurt, may help, and worst case I am out $20.

I've heard good things about it and use it in my tires, like you said, it can't hurt. Plus it definitely doesn't harm the rims etc.
One thing though, I don't recall seeing anything regarding its use
in TUBED tires. You might want to check that.

Yes, it can be used for tubed tires. The literature says that because tubes can tear when punctured, the effectiveness can be lower. They claim 85-95%success in tubeless tires up to 1/4" puncture and55-65% in tube tires up to 1/8" puncture.
The real answer would be to trade my spoked rims for cast rims so that I could run tubeless tires, but taking longer trips is more the exception than the rule right now, so trying to see if I can tour on spokes. Anyone have experience touring long miles over the years with spoked rims and tubes?

I had one of the tubed tires that it was "less effective" on. Got a nail. I had to ride the bike on the trailer with the rear tire completely flat. The air would leak out as fast as it went in when pumping as fast as possible with a bike pump.
I didn't like the fact that they say don't balance the tire once you use the stuff either.
My new tire doesn't have ride-on.

You can fix it yourself but, getting the tube out without taking it off the bike is a real pain. The rear is the worst, the front is easier, by the time you get the bike propped up enough to get the tube out of the front you can take the wheel off.Figure out how many co2 cartridges you need to put 40 pounds in it and double that.Yes you can do it,figure about 3 hrs. for the rear, 1 for the front.

I know they used to sell a product that was like an armor for tires. You placed it between the tire and the tube and it was like a pierce resistant material. Like bullet proof but for sharp objects. This protected tubed tires but I haven't heard anything about it in a couple of years.

I believe that the issue on balancing your tires is that you should balance your tires prior to using their product. Ride On will maintain a perfect balance while you ride down the road on warmed up tires. It would bevery difficultto balance your tires with this product in your tires.
