Default Will my walking stick fit in the tour Pack?

Don't have the bike today...my current walking stick does not really fit the bike well though it breaks in half. On my old bike I had it tied to the top of the leather bags. I don't have those tie downs this time so I'm buying a more collapsable stick.

I was doing some online shopping and relaize I wasn't sure the walking stick I was buying would fit in the tour pack.

So before I press the purchase button I thought I would ask. I want to put the walking stick in the tour pack so it is easy to get too. I'm actaully thinking of screwing in some straps when I add the rack to the top of the tour pack to velcro it up on the top lid.

Looks like the folded size is 24 inches....willit fit?

On my 07 (should be the same) 24" would fit diagonally in the tour pak, spose you could mount velcro straps to inner lid and fasten it that way. Hope this helps some.

Thanks....I was thinking it would fit diagonally but wasn't sure.

I like a specific brand of walking sticks and that is the smallest they go for a good sturdy one. I can get a lighter one but Iactually like the heftiness of this one. Makes it feel like you won't collapse it with just a bit of weight.

Same here - shouldn't be a problem. Then again, the saddlebags have enough room ta fit 'em as well.....

Rose, I remember watching the old TV show CHIPS. They stowed their night sticks in a tube between the saddlebags and frame. Could you take some PVC pipe, put an end cap on one end and attach it along the rear frame covers. There's not room behind the bags, like the Kawa's had, but there is room there. It could even be painted to match the bike. It would be tucked out of the way under the tour pack and you would have the space in the tour pack for other stuff.

hmmm....good point on the baton tube! Takin' it a step further, you could do it with copper pipe, braze a cap on one end, then chrome it...

Not a bad idea. I was thinking of something like that but then got busy and totally forgot about it. My current one is still too long for something like that but I'll have to contenplate that a bit.

Did some further measuring and found a tube would fit nicely along the Tour Pack rack crosswise behind the seat. Might have to do something to make it detachable to get the seat off for servicing but doable. TR's idea about chroming it is good. Might need to rig a removable cap to keep it in. Take the stick and get a piece of PVC long inough to hold it. If you know any plumbers you could get it free. Then try to "mock up" the idea and find out where you want to put it. Use wire ties or something like it if you have more than one spot until you find the right spot. If you made a chrome one, you couldput on the rear engine guard facing up next to the bike. You ride solo so it would not be in anyones way.

Actaully my current one is collapsible into 2 pieces (I've had it for 15 years) but still a bit too long -- Probably 2 1/2 ft. The one I'm bying breaks down to 3 peices...not sure why the smallest it goes is 24" it's only 57" long.
