Default 2001 RK noise

I just bought a 2001 Road King. I noticed a slight "tick" type noise when riding down the road. Is this common? Ok? I'm not too familiar with the 88" twin cam. Thanks.

A pushrod engine will do a bit of "ticking" - that's normal. Have a mechanic listen, however, since there are other reasons why a "ticking" may be a sign of trouble. How many miles on the engine? Has it been serviced recently?

It has 11,5xx miles, I'm bringing it in the week to have the fluids changed. It doesn't sound bad or loud, just wanted to make sure I'm not running into trouble.

Had a 01 roadking from new till i traded for new ultra, made ticking noise from new till traded with 50,000 miles. Had top end apart trying to find it, everything was fine. Tried syn. oil made it worse, WON'T put that in anything again!!. Went back to reg. oil , still had noise, but not as bad. Ride it and forget noise!!!! mark

Good deal, thank you. I'm just nervous as I blew the motor on my 1985 Ironhead Sporty and I want to keep this bike for a long time...

Your pipes are obviously not loud enough. Get louder pipes and the ticking will go away.

But seriously folks... I agree with Retired_Ted. Have your mechano listen to be sure.
