V&H ovals
i have an extra set of V&H ovals and i was thinking about modifing them. i found a round 1" to and 1 1/4 cap in side the baffle. i was thinking of punching that out to see what it sounds like. or the inside muffler is about 16" long, with the baffle inside what about cutting that in half down to the baffle? any tips or tricks that anybody do?

RE: V&H ovals
Hey bullgogmoe7, I have been looking at putting a set of slip-ons on my '08 Ultra and I really like the sound of the Vance and Hines Ovals. Are you wanting to modify them because they are not loud enough? Was just wondering. They seem to be a medium loudness that have a low rumble. Could you elaborate on what you do and don't like about them.
Thanks, Danny

RE: V&H ovals
i currently have the V&H basic slip ons. they sound good and loud. but looking for the lower rumble. the oval to me just didnt quite have that sound and to a little "tingy" there are a lot of people here how have the ovals and swear by them. but that is personall preferance.
at idle they have a good sound

RE: V&H ovals
I modified the Ovals on my bike. Once you take the the 2 screws out of the case, the inner part will slide out the back. If they are stuck, put a piece of pipe in the intake end and knock them out. grind the weld off the cap end of the bullet shaped muffler. at that point add a 10 i n long piece if 2 in pipe to the inside of that end cap. Supporting the other end with a large cup plug shaped washer fitting snugly inside that housing. Drill 8 equally spaced rows of 3/16 holes 3/4 in apart the length of that pipe. Wrap that pipe with fiberglass matt and re assemble with screws. If you don't like the sound, just cut the pipe off or redrill the holes to change the sound.
