I have got the 2008 service manual for my ultra,was wondering if I need to get the eletical manual too? Or if the service manual is the main one to get and not worry about the electrcal manual.Thanks for your help all.

 

The service manual has the schematic in the back. I'm guessing that unless you have the need to fix electrical problems you wouldn't need it right now.

+1 on using all manuals. The first time that you use the electrical for something you'll be glad you got it. If you do your own wrenching it's a must have manual.

 

If you have problems with sensors and switches out of warranty the electrical manual is great to have

 

Does the electrical manual contain anything different that's not in the service manual? what?

 

Of course it does, or they would only offer one manual. It has all the diagnostic procedures and more detailed schematics.

 

I picked up a great manual at www.tradebit.com, then use the search by searching for Harley Davidson motorcycles manuals. It also contains the regular HD manual, along with a great diagnostic section on the whole bike and all it's part. The manual is well over 1000 pages to print out on one sided pages (my printer is a real hassle to print on two sided pages as you have to turn the pages over backward to do it and it only holds about 100 pages at a time), I used 4-4" binders to put it in. It's a download manual that downloads to your computer to use or put on CD, I take my laptop to my shop and have internet there too, plus I use the printed manual to write notes for future reference, the manual also has a not section at the end of each chapter to write in. My manual was $ 14.00 so it's affordable and it already has the HD manual in it, it's suppose to be the manual that the service tech use so they say, but I know it's super good.
