mrbuck,
I did the exact same extensions. I pick my bags up from the painter tomorrow!! Make sure you watch for a "witness line" where you joined the bags and extensions. The body work will shrink and leave a faint line......no matter how you do it. My body work was perfect (I am an **** SOB), 3M automix, short strand fiberglass, topped with Rage Extreme. On top of that, the painter did the final skim coat, shot the base, cleared and couple days later took them outside in the sunlight....witness line. He blocked the bags, re-cleared and blocked again. He added enough clear that they can safely be blocked and buffed again. I would suggest you ask your painter to do the same. Lots of painters warned me about the potential problem so I wasn't surprised. I am very impressed that my painter went the extra mile to make sure it was perfect.
Look at that, a whole paragraph and I didn't mention your gorgeous wife !! I am so proud of myself.......gotta go now before I say something stupid and blow it.

rocket-- when i applied the extension i used the glue apoxy they recomended then put one layer of fg mesh just covering the ext. and onto the bag about 2" then applied a 2nd layer of fg woven mat from the bottom all the way upto the body line in the bag right below the latch then started in with a layer on dyna glass(fg reinforced filler)befor finishing with bondo. of course rough sanding between every layer. my painter has done a few set this way and said never had one back for that reason, some back for scrapes (4"ext).so i think i'll be good thanks for lookin out
