It took me a bit to get back to this one, but I have no idea what a Scala Rider is and don't plan on finding out. Part of the reason I ride is to turn off as much of the world as I can. Just me, the world, and thoseoccassional idiots who won't let me ride in peace. I have a cell, but it useless to call since I'm not going to answer it.I'm riding, so leave me alone.

 

I had to ride through a "ghetto" the other day....seriously, I think every person I saw had a cell phone attached to his/her ear. So much for being poor (not trying to start a fight, just an observation).

Personally, I'm to the point that I think laws should be passed requiring folks in cages to use bluetooth devices or anything else that is "hands free." I swear that cell phone drivers are worse than drunks...all over the road, crossing lanes, running stop signs. Drives me nuts.

 

I followed a girl driving a scooter with her left hand stuck to her ear. Hard to drive a scooter with that left hand holding the phone ,and she was all over the road.

 

Wasn't "Lady Gadiva", was it?

 

I saw a lot of guys doing it during Bike Week...on their bikes.

Wow. I've seen signs at the entrances to highways stating "No pedestrians, bicycles, or Horses". I always considered it a joke. I'm not a horse expert, but wouldn't the traffic on a 4 lane highway make the horse real skitish and what-not, maybe jump out in a lane or something or buck her off? Was it leagal on that highway? Just curious.

 

I guess it depends on how skittish the horse is. We ride our horses in highway ditches in the middle of the country frequently, but the highway is an old 2-lane that has medium-to-low levels of traffic. It's the only place to actually work the horse for long distances once the fields have been planted (I know I sound like a big hick, but I'm from North Dakota). At least the girl isn't as bad as the guy I saw with his phone to his ear while attempting to navigate his Valkerie down the road last week, alost nailed the curb. And we wonder why insurance rates go up!

 

I do it on my bike at intersections just to mock the cagers.

 

I agree with that 100%, but the Scala allows me to ride at times when work needs to be able to get ahold of me. If I didn't have the Scala, I would have to leave the bike home & drive my truck.
