Default RE: Where to mount tool bag on RK?

A couple of things that are always on my bike. Tool Kit, and Rain Gear. I never leave home without um. I invested in those saddlebag liners and in the left bag is the following

1. 2 sets of rain gear (his and hers)
2. Tool kit
3. Rechargable LED Flashlight
4. Pack of resealable windex all purpose wipes
5. Micro Fiber towel
6. Assorted flat style bungie's
7. small first aid kit.

Never had issue with weight and balance

Frank

Ya' got any more snow left in Evergreen? BTW, you look a lot like John Denver.

Easy question seeing as how you are going to relocate the license plate anyway, right?

Well, if you do decide to drop license plate to a lower fender mount like I did, then strap your tool bag to grab bar where license was mounted.....I did and it looks/works great. It rests on top of tail light and spans full with of rear fender...matches my RKC leather bags and looks like it is factory.

I know, but I can squeeze two extra cans of beer in it.....so that makes it essential.

That is exactly what my thoughts were after staring at things for a while, relocate the license plate and lay across the stock rear bars!! Did you buy the kit that changes the lightbar / turnsignals / fender trim or can you just relocate the license plate bracket alone? Does the tool-bag touch the fender in between?

Same here for me. I have the Windzone toolkit in my left saddlebag with my rainsuit.

Has the OL taken all of your space in the bags? I've got a nice WindZone kit in my right saddlebag. No mounting needed.

Yeah. I converted the turns to brake/turns, but the tool bag doesn't cover stock tail light...it just rests on top of it......I also fabricated a piece of flat alum plate to stick inside tool bag....the bag mounts to bar with old license plate bolts thru alum plate so it doesn't flop or sag....no issues with it scaring paint on fender.....Really, folks ask me if it's a stock add-on....It looks like it belongs there.

Look at the Kuryakyn #3164 lower license mount with led for tag and red led bars....it's a classy piece that is a direct bolton and plugs in to factory wiring.

Yodaddy Keith,

Do you have any pics of the rear of your bike so that I could see how it mounts? I never thought of the permanent approach, but that would remove any worry of the straps coming loose. Great idea!
