i have no clue what IED is other than improvised explosive device. could someone please educate me. i am headed for california in the morning and will be returning across death valley on the 12th. not sure how i will handle the heat my 08 is putting off on my right thigh.

IED is an Inline Enrichment Device, a low cost solution to the problem by changing electronic signals to the fuel injection, slightly enrichening the mixture.

It's a resistor that you plug inline on the O2 sensor wires that reduces the voltage seen by the ECM, fooling it into thinking the engine is colder than it really is, thus richening the mixture. This results are a 20-40 degree drop in exhaust temps. They have the standard IED as well as the XIED, which does the same thing but richens the mix even more for even better cooling.
