Default Removing exhaust baffles

If I remove my exhaust baffles is there any need to have the engine re-calibrated now that the back pressure has been reduced? Will there be amarked drop in performance?

I don't think that mod alone calls for any fuel adjustments. Your stock ECM should be able to compensate. If you notice any signs of a lean condition I would consult your mechanic.

You might notice it being louder. You can probably get away without remapping, but I'm guessing you will generate more heat. As far as power, probably a noticeable loss, has always been my experience with straight pipes unless you really spend the time to tune for them.

I would think a power loss is very soon to be found at your house.

I know a few guys who pulled the baffels from 07's with no noticable performance change. Your bike will readjust itself to the increase in flow within 15 minutes of start up (everytime you start up)

Looks like I've got some fun to look forward to tomorrow. Ok.... what about if I don't like the result, just as easy to put one back in? Does anyone know if its a clamp that holds the baffle in? Guess I'll find out if unknown.

Most common effectof removing baffles or going to staight pipes is this. Loss low end HP/TQ and gain high end of power band. Drag bikes run no baffle because it will be at the high end of the rpms threw the run.
Problem is people on the street are tricked into feeling more power. The trick is with sound and surge. Louder just makes it seem faster for some reason, lol. The surgeis caused by sudden power curve from no power to lots of power on the top end and people feel that and go "wow, it's faster." Really it's not. If you have power threw the entire rpm band there is no surge of power but overall it is pulling harder and going faster.

Well I was having a heack of time trying to pull the baffles out so decided to call my local HD shop. Talked with one of the performance techs and he explained this. Since my bike was Raced Tuned/Dyno I would loose a lot of low to mid range performance. If I rode in the high range (throttle all the way open) the bike would do pretty well but most people ride in the low to mid range. Also my gas milage would drop off.

If I wanted to make the change and remove the baffles or put in shorter ones he suggest getting the bike re dyno/Race Tuned to compensate for the lack of back pressure and new O2.

Looks like I'm going to hold off for awhile.

Thanks for all the input!

I would not go with a straight pipe/drag pipe. I would at least put in the big city baffles.
