Default Exhaust Gaskets Stock or SE

My V&H Dresser Duals are due from EPC tomorrow. If I remember correctly the stock exhaust gaskets are tappered and the SE gaskets are flat.Which works best with the V&H Dresser Duals?

I've had the best luck using the stock gaskets, they seem to seal up better than the flat ones.

Dude,

Got my V&H Dresser duals installed a couple weeks ago. I LOVE them!! Right now I'm running SE street performance pipes, but as soon as I get the cash I'm going for the new V&H monster ovals. that's the sound I need. I wish I'd gone with the ovals instead of the SEs.

So am I correct that the stock gaskets are the tappered ones?

Never noticed a taper. If you are installing true duals you should use either the SE rings or another aftermarket gasket.
They are made to not compress as much. Stock gaskets will compress and swish into the exhaust port thus restricting flow.

Our shop guys are 50/50. Stock gaskets have more meat (and yes, we call 'em tapered) and SE gaskets (we call 'em sliced) have less. Does the extra meat of a stock gasket impede flow? Never been up a pipe to look. t's a chocolate/vanilla thing.

Yes the stockers are tapered. I suppose if you crush them beyond belief and force some material into the port then you might get some impedence. I personally like to use the stock gaskets only because I feel I can get a better seal. If I were to use flat gaskets I would go with the Cometic copper crush type as opposed to the SE.

V&H pipes here and always use stock gaskets. Tried sceamin beagles once and they didn't seal.

Nothing but the SE gaskets and no problems getting a good seal....no chance of impeding flow
