RE: What?? F L H X stand for???
I have no idea what all the separate letters in FLHX stand for, but together it'sa Streetglide. As far as the color code for your bike, look underneath the tank. There's SUPPOSED to be a tag with the paint code on it. You DO NOT have to remove the tank to see it. Harley uses PPG paint OEM and PPG has most of the paint codes for Harleys at their retailers. It's expensive as all getout!!!! 1 pint of Fire Red Pearl for my 06 cost $65.00 at jobber discount.

There was a rather nice looking Black Cherry that I almost bought before I saw the Black Pearl in the sunlight. You can't go wrong with a black and chrome Harley, and there are four colrs of black.
I would personally like to see Harley add one more by replacing the Pearl with Gold flakes.

It's rather simple, the letters FLHX are the first letters from the four words that HD designers came up with that best describes the bike.
Fremitus
Labarum
Hadeharia
Xesturgy
If you drank the bong water then your not going to know what the words mean.

For the record; In 1984 there was an FLHX as the first to carry that designation.
FL - wide front forks, could be floorboards I guess, never thought about that one
H - as before touringbike, maybe from the Hydro forks on original baggers.
X - was a 1984 FLH with a shovelhead motor
An FLHT of that year had an Evo motor I believe.
X designated no offical model but old motor.

Try being a parts guy and trying to memorize this ****. There's no logic. Well, some, but inconsistent as hell.

This dates back awhile. F=Frame, L=Large, H=Heavy, X=Streetglide, S=Special
These are what the letters actually stand for. The other are correct but it is the definition of the letter. What I found dates back from the early days of harley when they started the touring line I think.
