i have a chopped tourpak in the solo position. i will not carry a passenger on my bike since the wife has her own, so i set it up with the back rest for me...... the king wouldn't be that much different, but i would hope that someone wouldn't use the 'infant' carrier backrest for solo use....

 

Here's a pic of my '04 police model EG with the King TP on the solo rack. I don't use a rider backrest, but someone who did might find the backrest on the TP "different" because it will be higher on the rider's back than the rider backrest.

Harleypingman, that makes a lot of sense, I could not figure out why the model numbers for the tour paks since they all attach the same way, permanent or detach. But it makes sense the antenas and color schemes for the different year/models. I'll order the vivid black with the detach kit.
