RE: Is it a must to have your tires spin balanced
You can do a quick balance check yourself without any special equipment. It's always worked well for me. Mount the tire and insert the axle in the wheel. Balance the wheel on two supports of the same height, such as kitchen chairs. Give it a spin. When it stops, chalk mark the tire on the top where it has stopped. Repeat this 4-5 times. If the chalk marks are randomlydistributed, the tire is balanced. If the chalk marks are falling near the same place, then there is a heavy spot 180 degrees away. Place a weight at the chalk marks and repeat until you get a random distribution.

I have to agree with Uncle Scrooge. I am on my fourth rear tire and second front. have not had to balance any of them and no vibrations at all. Good to check them before installing on bike just to make sure you won't have a problem.

I've been thinking about trying these. They constantly keep balancing your tire.
