Anyone use the XM radioin the ZUMO 550 with the built in (internal) antennae?

I just bought the ZUMO 550 and would like to get an XM subscription, but want to know whether I need to purchase the "external" antennae. I hoping not ...

The ZUMO does NOT have a XM receiver built in. That is why you need to use the GXM 30 antena (hockey puck)

 

You need to get the GXM-30 external antenna. The Zumo will not get XM with out it. There is no internal XM antenna in the Zumo.

 

Really the external antenna is the XM radio. It's bigger than you think, about the size of a hockey puck or bigger. I mounted mine on the radio housing under the fairing.

 

Yep, the Zumo just interfaces with the XM radio (GXM Antenna). That big old "hockey puck" is the XM radio, so you'll need it. One was just for sale in the classified section, but I think it sold, check eBay.....
As for mounting, I used the Cyclegadget mount, works good.

 

You can also put in in the fairing without issues
