Can't go wrong either way....Buy the SG....Add the stuff you want....But the EGC...Take off the stuff you don't want.....You can see where I landed....

Get the Streetglide or skip the Classic and go for the Ultra. When I buy a new one it willlikelybe the Ultra. I love my SG though.

Love my Classic- couldn't afforded the Ultra.Adding goodies as I can afford them. Like it's been said, do you want to add part on or take parts off. You end up with the same bike.

If you plan on going anywhere longer than overnight the tourpack is awesome.

EGC is an excellent value. But I have not yet seen a cutdown EGC that looked anything like a SG.
That is because most EGC'ers dont go as far as removing the pinstriping on the paint, getting the SG emblems, removing all of their chrome guards and fender trim, filling holes or getting new fenders etc etc.
A cutdown EGC looks like a cutdown EGC and NOT a SG. And that makes it pretty cool...... I have a SG. My bext bike will be either a RG, EGC, or Ultra. Just cause....

+1 up to you, add or take off, as for me, we ride 2 up most all the time, job is not one can ride bike for, so we chose the Ultra, have absolutely no regrets. Buy the one that tugs on the soul the most and fits the checkbook, cant go wrong any way you choose. Good luck and safe riding.

Cost to strip down an EG Classic and replace all the parts to give it the look I like would have been about the same.
My brother has more in his 07 SG than I do in my 07 EGC once he added detachable backrest, tourpack, docking hardware and fog lights.

But he's happy with his & I'm happy with mine. And that is the important part.

Sometimes I wish I had the saddle bag guards.
They'd be handy for tying more crap on for long trips.

There's a thread going somewhere on this forum about carrying arifle scabbard.
Seems to me that with those bars surrounding the bags I could easily devise a way.
A Krink SBR (short barrel rifle) AK-47 with underfolder stock fits inside the saddle bag.

I'm having the same struggle...I really love the look of the SG but momma wants to ride and I've seen a lot of classics that are really sharp. Maybe HD will have a "stripped down" version of the EGC for '09 huh? A short windhield and some pinstripe removal could do the trick...it's kind of a "tough" decision but one I can't wait to make...couple more months!
