Short Ultra Riders....Help
I'm looking to buy an Ultra classic. I am 5'9" and have sat on several bikes that are too tall. I would like to know if any of you out there could shed some light on basic mods and a rough $ figure to lower them. ( lowering kit, shocks, low profile seat, etc?) thank you for any info you can share.

I'm 5'10" with 30 " inseam and ride a '96 UC with HD's lowered seat. This works great except the seat ain't great on rides over about 100 miles. I've got the stock seat and have tried it but it's too tall for me to have good control on uneven ground. I rode a new '07 last year and didn't have any trouble with the standard seat heighton it. All that said, Mean City Cycles can modify your stock seat to help with this issue and you'd be looking at about $150 or so including shipping, though that price may be a little dated. Good luck.

I've lowered 3 different Ultras using blocks, shocks and frontend kits. Also tried the reach seat.
Get some good logger boots, and a good seat modified (not the reach seat) that's what I did and like the bike better (unlowered) I'm 5'6" 29" inseam with 2" heels on the boots.

I have a 30" inseam and tip toed on a couple of them, not real comfortable with that especially when wife ridesand full of gear. Amazing how the two dealers that I was dealing with are unhelpful..they want to sell me a Streetglide. I told them if I wanted a Streetglide, We would be talking about a Streetglide!

I have a 32 inch inseam, I'm around 5'8 or 5'9. I don't have much trouble. One thing is, wear decent boots with a good sole. I wear Milwaukees. They have a nice thick lug sole and heel.
I am thinking about getting the lowering kit to drop the back end by an inch. Cost about $110.00 simple installation.
You can buy the Harley "Reach" seat, it will be about an inch lower and an inch and a half narrower. Costs about $300.00. though.
