Default Jiffy Stand Spring

So I am riding along at 75 on the interstate about 10 miles from home on my 07 Road King when I hear this metal grating sound. The jiffy stand is bouncing on the road. Pull over, gently test it and it still holds the bike. Can't figure out what is wrong. I try to tighten the bolt, but it is already tight. A car stops to help out and he holds the bike so I can look under it. Nothing holding the stand up, I realize there is no spring. I have no idea if it broke or vibrated off or what, heading down to buy another (and since the bike has less that 5,000 miles on it) an extra to take along.

I searched on here and didn't see anything like this, has this happened to anyone else?

i try to carry a spare at all times. they are very easy to drag off. a bungee cord can be used to temporarily hold up the stand until you can get another spring.

The slightest little "tweak" to the spring really messes them up.
The last one I helped replace on a buddy's bike looked nearly normal.

Just a quick side note, this is one of those cases where you can save money going aftermarket, but I've tried a lot of aftermarket springs in the past, always end up at the dealership to get one that works right.

Hasn't happened to me. I carry a lot of stuff like duct tape, zip ties, bungee cords, nylon cords in my bags. Plus the Whelldock center stand is the cats a$$.
