How do you tell if your bike is out of alignment?

How do you tell if your bike is out of alignment?
Whether it be the wheels or the drivetrain? Maybe it's my imagination or just the say I sit or hold my legs but while riding my bike feels like it lists ever so slighly to the right. Maybe its the road grade I don't know. Does anyone else ever feel like their bike leans a little while riding straight ahead?

Ever ride a bicycle with no hands?
Let go ( very slowly ), oruse as little grip as possible on the handle bars, it should go straight. I know it's not safe but I let go all the time when coastingdown an exit ramp to give my hands a little break.
If it pulls just a little and your tires are wearing fine,I wouldn'tworry about it.If it starts to head for the ditch

Lets take a look at this.
when you are riding do you think you are sittimg in a perfect balanced position all the time. The bike and rider has to be in perfect balance with each other to run a perfect straight line. I can ride my Ultra with the cruise on for miles on end (not suggested in doing this) with my hands off the bars and it will run straight but if I move at all or lean slightly the bike will lean because of the weight transfer. 2 different bikes will react differently as far as the seat, road, tire wearing, or even how much weight is in each bag. So, if it pulls to one side slightly I would think you are fine. In you are not in line your tires will show it in how they wearing. They will most likely not last very long.

I think HD's generally tend to drift left because of the weight and rotating mass of the primary gears and clutch on the left. I put my tools in my right saddle bag and it no longer drifts left.
A quick check on alignment is to measure from the swingarm pivot points to the center of the rear axle. Shouldn't be more than 1/32" off.

I came across this web site that has some really good information on alignment procedures. Good way to put your mind at ease if your wondering about your alignment.
