Default Rineharts or Vance and Hines on baggers?

When I traded in my Fat Boy for my Street Glide I was really pumped. I wanted a great sounding exhaust. I asked my salesman what he thought was the best. He said 4 out of 5 baggers always get the Rineharts and they were the way to go. So I went with Rinehart. When I picked it up I was surprised how quiet they were. I then added the performance baffles. A little louder but terrible sound on decel. I took em out and went back to the standard baffles that they came with. My 2 buddies have the V&H pipes on their Heritage Softails and they sound loud and bad a$$. Should I have gone with the Vance and Hines instead? I am thinking of selling my Rineharts and getting them instead.

Derek,
It all depends on what you like. I personally think the Rineharts have a deeper throatier sound and I like them over the Vance & Hines. I had Vance& Hines on my other bike and didn't really care for the sound. Like I said everyone is going to have a different opinion, bottom line is go with the pipes and sound you like..."D"

I loved the looks of Rh's but only thought they sounded good when you was really getting on the throttle. Listen to some thunderheaders with dual head pipes. Imo they are the best sounding pipes out their. Once again imo VH's mufflers have a tiny sound .

I had the big radius pipes on my Fat Boy. I never really liked the sound. But the Vance and Hines on my friends Heritage Softtails have a nice big deep throaty sound. Way better than mine. But then again my pipes are now way behind me unlike the big radius that were right beside me.

I have the Vance & Hines Ovals on my 2007 RK. I like them better than anything else out there.

In my opinion, they make the Harley sound like a Harley!

www.bigcitythunder.com makes a part that fits between the head pipe and muffler that makes Rineharts deeper and a little louder for $79. They said I can even take the baffles out but it would be really loud.
