Test Drive Goes Bad

RE: Test Drive Goes Bad
Wow! Tough break, but good to hear you're ok. I agree with the others that you should get a HD tech. to detail the repairs needed. I had a little scrape with a cager a couple of years ago and the ins. co. adjuster didn't argue with the bike shop estimate at all.
Hope you get back on the road pronto.

Thanks all, the damage is what I can see, but you're correct that there may be additional damage.
Since the insurance appraiser is coming in the morning, I'll see what he has to say and then I will get the bike to the dealership and let them go over it.
There is no doubt about that.

Glad to hear you're OK. He was watching over you.

Keep in mind that the insurance man is there to simply see the damage. Your HD shop will have the final say on what is damaged and how much it will cost to repair.
Laid my XK883 down 3 years ago after I hit a large dog. Ended up costing $2,500 initially and an additional $300 after I had to take it back for a bent fork.
It's important that you don't sign off and close the case until you have a chance to ride the bike for a while after the repair. Take it from me, things can crop up later.
Glad you're OK, this is why we should all have good insurance. You never know when the other guy is uninsured.
I also agree that you should get a rental to ride in the meantime. It takes a long time to get parts especially painted parts.

Sorry about your bike, sounds like you did everything right to walk away.
The dealer or shop probably will not fix your frame, they are powder coated and I'm not sure you would like it anyway. If any brackets or tabs are ripped off it's probably a frame out repair. My UC was 3 months getting all the painted parts needed after we hit the deer.I hope you are luckier than I was or your season will be very short.

CRASHIN' SUCKS!!!!!
I deal with this daily...
Make sure the insurance Adjuster Leaves an OPEN just incase unknown damage may exsist (like the Frame is tweeked or damaged???)
Rental a motorcycle it may depend on which state you're insured in but MOST Insurance Co will rent you a Car but not a bike unless you can prove to them that the HD is your only means of transportation...
