08 Ultra
I am looking to buy my first HD, Ultra Classic, but I have a short inseam and don't feel comfortable not having both feet firmly on the ground. The dealers folks told me there is no way to lower the rear of the bike, only the front end.
It was suggested I get on the forum and solicit more info, any information would be appreciated.
Thanks, taxlight2

RE: 08 Ultra
i think that six gallon tax has changed the height
in the forum u will see guyswho have had stuff removed from there seat [narrower and lower ]to lower it
and other ideas
but if you cant get your feet down buy and older one that sits lower
that is 900 lb when you need to stop on uneven ground or back up you need to get your feet planted

RE: 08 Ultra
HD ultra clasic has 13 inch shocks The street glide has 12 inch shocks you can fit the 12 inch shocks on the ultra to lower the back of the bike.Progressive has a kit you can buy to lower the forks by 1 or 2 inches.Theres a heap of custom seats you can buy for the shorter riders

RE: 08 Ultra
Welcome to the board. I have an 07 Ultra.
There are several ways to lower the back end. I put a lowering kit from TWR on e-bay. Lowered it 1 inch. Other have used shorter shocks. I also had Mean City Cycles lower my seat 1 1/2 inches. Great guy to work with and a good job. He is a site sponsor. I have a 30" inseam and with the wife on, I am flat footed. I'm sure others will jump in with other ideas. This is a great place for info.

RE: 08 Ultra
Do what I just did when I bought my 08 Ultra. Order the Reach seat - Harley # 52619-08. It looks great, is very comfortable and lowers you an inch or more. You will also require a shorter windscreen like Part# 58303-96. I made a deal where the dealer provided these for free along with installation. I also have the originals...
My inseam, by the way, is 29"

HeyTaxlight,
I'd do a quick search on lowering kits. My buddy is all of 5 1/2' and he touches the ground just fine. He put on shorter shocks in the rear and a lowering kit with shorter springs on the front end. I have another friend who used the White Brothers lowering blocks. The blocks are cheap, but they change the shock angle and I personally don't like that idea.
