Default Sundowner thoughts on my new seat.

I just went and got the seat yesterday, the wife wanted better than the stockfor the Laughlin trip.
I probably rode for an hour last night,I figured I'll get used of it, the wife says she is happy.

TODAY: I woke up and my lower back hurts(alot), I hope it gets better, maybe I'll have to break in the seat or my back is going to have to deal with it.
I rode 21 hours straight(gas stops)going to Sturgis on the stock seat.
I hope I can last 5 hours to Laughlin on Thurs.

I very rarely hear about anyone unhappy with a Sundowner vs Stock HD seat....I've tried 3 different seats on my Ultra and the Sundowner is still there

Since bodies and seats aren't a one size fits all....it always a good idea to try one out before buying....of course that's not always possible

I hope it gets better for you

I have rode on the stock seat which was good for 4-5 hours, a Tallboy which was good for 12 hours and now the sundowner which is good for as long as I can stay in the saddle. There was really little break in, more of my butt getting used to the new seat. I like it a lot. Try a rider backrest it will help more than anything else.

I have a sundowner on my 08 RKC and it is a very comfortable seat. I added an adjustable backrest and that took care of the lower back pain.

I have found that the sundowner pushes me forward towards the tank. This would be fine of I were short or had a short inseam, but I don't, so I find myself adjusting positions frequently.

So does the sundowner seat get you closer to the ground? I have a RK custom which is lowered at factory. My stock seat is still alittle higher than I like. Comfort is OK but would like a little more back support also.

Do you have a backrest with it?

No back rest. I dont like em. It was hard enough for me to switch to a 'geezer glide', but my wifeconvinced me I reallyneeded to get one. She said I am a geezer now and it was time to grow out of riding street bikes on road trips.
Anyway, my biggest problem withmy RK is seat height. I am trying to find out if the sundowner seat is cut lower or narrower for vertically challenged folks like myself!!

I have just changed tothe Sundowner on my '05 RK, have any of you cramped up in the groin area with this seat? I don't know if it puts me in a different position but I experienced what felt like a cramp in the groin area. I really felt it coming to a stop and putting my leftleg down. I love this seat and won't change back to stock, but this cramp issue is weird.

Try the SOOS floor board extenders. The 1" per side really makes a significant difference in comfort, especially since Sundowner tends to be a bit wider at the front than stock.

I've got the extenders too, had them before the sundowner.
