I was looking into the same set up with the 508's. Does anyone know how much the dealer charges (approx) for the swap?

The angle of yours hands changes quite a bit different - I've heard others describe it as the difference between pushing a lawnmower and a wheelbarrow.

--I would recommend changing the brake cable - though apparently those more apt than I can bend the existing one to fit - I'd tried that with great frustration.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know. I think I'll just save up some pennies and go with the 502's w/new cables. That'll be quite a bit more expensive, but it's cheaper than gettin' the wrong setup the first time and havin' to buy somethin' else later.

The 508's will be a radical change from the stock Road King Classic bars. I did that change, and never really felt that the 508's were what I wanted:the grip anglewas very much like a"wheelbarrow", although I got used to that after a while; they had way too much pullback for me (5'10", 34" sleeve). I was very upright, and the grips came close to hitting my knees when in full lock.

But... they sure look cool and are of great quality. But for me, the 518's would have been a better choice.

I love the look of the 16's, but since I'm so damn short (5'6"), I wouldn't be able to reach them and be comfortable for long rides.

Those 502's look great on your bike. I'm glad to see them on your's, because the color of your bike is similar to mine. Gives me a good idea of how they would look on my bike.

Thanks for that info. They do look good, but I'd be affraid that my wrists would start to hurt after a while in that position. I'm not too worried about the pullback since I'm a short guy. It would actually help me out. I think apes will be the smartest decision for me.

Hi, I am 5' 6" and pot 508s on my previous classic. I tried to fit them myself but the wiring was a pig so the dealer finished them off. I'd go with the dealer from the start. I loved them. I didn't feel that the angles were wrong - in fact I didn't feel that they were to far from stock. I would have loved to try the 518s as I like idea of the wider reach.
