Default Ultra Radio - Water resisitant????

Hi

Just picked up my new 2008 Ultra in Candy Red - was very sad to trade my Road King but this is one AWESOME bike!! My question is how water resistant is the radio and speakers - do you guys take special care when washing the bike or leaving out overnight in the rain on a road trip???

Anyone fitted Kuryakyn ISO grips to a Fly By Wire bike - any problems?? I had the ISO grips on my FLHR and loved em.

My dad rides an 05 ultra, and has no problem pressure washing the speakers or the dash, i've seen him blast marks right off of the cd players screen. you'll be fine.

When washing it, I avoid spraying water directly on the backside of the fairing, as well as directly on to the rear speakers.

I am sure that all the electronics are designed to be water resistant....that doesn't mean they can tolerate high pressure water being sprayed directly into them.

Radio wise I would say you have little to worry about. My bike is an 03 and it once rained on me from Milwaukee to Nashville Tn. I usually cover my bike when on the road overnight or find something to partially deflect the rain.Your 08 should be superior to mine.

Their water resistant just likeHD says, however on that note, I wouldn'thold the hose directly on the radio and take a chance of forcing water under the CD cover. As far as the speakers I've been in some heavy rain and have washed the bike and never worried about getting the speakers wet. Hope this helps and Congrats on your new scoot...."D"

Been in many downpours, washed bike often, just avoid direct pressure spray on radio face or into speakers.

As long you get the ones made for the FBW it's a pretty easy job. I did have a little trouble with mine but the forum came to the resue. https://www.hdforums.com/m_2957087/tm.htm

I agree. And that warning applies to everything on the back side of the fairing, not just the radio. I made the mistake of spraying my gauges (not up close, from about 5 feet away), and now I've got a watermark on the inside face of my speedometer.
