RE: Converting engine to synthetic?
Here we go you had to ask a oil question now you did it. [:'(] All the reserch I have ever done suggest you can do it at any time, I broke in my last build with cheap dino oil just because it is that cheeper and then went synthetic. Once broke in I went to syn.

RE: Converting engine to synthetic?
The only oil manufacturer that says wait "X" number of miles before using in a new engine is Redline. Every other oil manufacturer says you can use synthetic immediately. H-D ships CVO bikes from the factory with synthetic, as do many auto manufacturers. In their literature for Syn3, H-D says it can be used at any time in the engine's life- even when new.
So to answer your question, you can switch whenever you want.
I did mine when I did my 1000 mile service.

RE: Converting engine to synthetic?
I pulled the engine apart 0n my 01 to do a build and with 43K on the clock all the parts inside looked like new! Still see the crosshatching on the cylinders. I ran dino for it's life and changed every 3-4K....
Just thought I'd stir the pot a little
Oh yeah, then there's that famous flatspotting with syn....
HAHAHA!!!
Really, JK!!
