Default Sirius radio clicking

I have an 08 sg. Last year I hooked up a portable Sirius one player and it worked great. Now this year I am hearing a clicking noise through the speakers. I changed how it was hooked up but I find it hard to believe this is the problem. I isolated it to the antenna. Here is the hook up... cigarette lighter for power, pin cord from Sirius to output jack on the front of the stock radio. The Sirius player is velcroed to the top of the fairing above my left hand. The antenna is mounted on the rear fender behind the seat. Any ideas???

Is the clicking sound continuous or is it sporadic?

one of the problems I and others have encountered with the Sirius radio is the connection between the actual Sirius receiver and the cradle. even using the "lock" button on the back of the cradle, the receiver will vibrate and lose connection between the receiver and cradle. I had one warranted by Sirius, but the next one did the same thing after a few miles. I finally used some small black wire ties to firmly secure the receiver to the cradle. Haven't had any problems since.

I hard wired the power under the fairing from the cigarette lighter. My antenna rests on top of the radio under the fairing. Radio works great now, once i ensured the receiver remained attached to the cradle. Even a little bit of movement will interrupt the contacts.

Might try this. is sure worked for me.

I'm assuming you only get the clicking with the motor running...
had the same loose connection with mine.. changed the unitto one without the cradle.. used a handlebar mount with clip and velcro to hold receiver in.. haven't had the clicking since

Thanks to all, I think it is due to having the antenna wires run under the gas tank and they are too close to the plug wires??? Artie isa time bomb. I feel for him I was once one too.

I have a J&M radio I hooked itup with no problems used an I-Pod for a trip it was great. Then I hooked up XM radio. I ran the pos and neg wires under the tank next to the j&m radio wires. The pos is in the acc fuse and the neg just went into a bolt near the oil reserve. My problem now is I herethe engine noise over the speakers more than the radio. It is driving me nuts!
any help, George

Might be a silly question, but to the OP, I'm assuming you didnt' switch to Nextel this year, and were w/ another carrier last year? Coz, if you're not familiar, those Nextel units are known for funny clicking noises coming through other electronics, especially stereos/speakers... Just wanted to rule that out, in case the slim chance you didn't know that.
