Default Ultra owners / helmet question

Anyone using a flip face / modular helmet with that headset / boom mic that comes standard with the Ultra?

I have a Nolan 100e but I'll be danged if I can figure out a way to clamp that boom to the side.

Open for ideas.

Thanks

THE ULTRA HAS AN ADJUSTABLE CLAMP THAT SHOULD FIT ANY STANDARD TYPE HELMET BY MOUNTING ON THE LOWER SIDE.

Rode with a guy last summer who just took the boom and duct taped it to the handlebars and used it that way...using the fron speakers on as receiver speakers

The boom clamp provided with the set should mount on the bottom side of your helmet; on the rim. I put mine all the way forward on the non-moving portion of the helmet to where the sections meet when closed. With the front section flipped down the boom goes under and up into the back of this section (inside the helmet) so the mic is positioned directly in front of your mouth for clear transmissions. With this location you will not need the wind sock provided and it will take up to much space, anyway. Leave it off. After mounting the boom then feed the wires and speakers under the liner very carefully to the correct position. Before adhering the velcro patches to the inside of the helmet, make sure they will allow the speakers to be positioned as close as possible to be directly in front of your ears. If they are not, you will lose a portion of the reproduced sound. This may be limited somewhat by the location of the chin strap mounting hardware. That's about it. My instructions that came with the set seemed quite helpful, although positioning advice could be improved. The system works quite well, actually. You will hear much more communication than trying to pick it up from the external speakers.

Or......just go to a hand held mic from HD....I use both helmet boom and hand held, depends on if it's a helmet state I'm riding in...even then, with a shorty, the hand held works great.

Yes, I know how it is supposed to mount.

However... the Nolan 100e I have lacks a solid place to clamp. The bottom skirt of the helmet is a 1.5 inch soft flexible plastic all the way around the base that does not allow you to mount the clamp.

Looks like I will need to replace the helmet with a different make.

I have a Nolan also and I had to turn the clamp around I think( not taking it off to check) It was time consuming to find the rite place I do know that
