Default Know where to get one of these?

Does anybody know where you can get one of these?

It is a type of compression nut that comes in the adjustable back rest kit. It goes into the hexagon hole mid frame to mount the backrest control. I tried to use it per the instructions and it basically stripped itself. (It is also used on the mid-frame air deflectors to mount the deflector to the mid-frame.)

The parts sheet states that you can't buy this separately (no part #, but it is called "Nut, special, self clinching. 0.25-20"). I really don't want to go buy the midframe air deflector just to get the parts if I don't need to.

Thanks if you know where to get one.

Gart

(I tried to post a picture of it but I can't get that to work either.)

Looks like an aluminum compression nut with a flair? http://aebike.com/page.cfm?action=de...amp;SKU=BR1777 is this what it looked like or is it something else?

The bolt is inserted through the left side of the picture (1/4" bolt). The left edge of the pic is a bit larger than the rest of it to prevent it from being pushed into the frame and loosing it (sort of like a washer). The next area (left 1/3rd of the pic) "was" the six-sided" section that supposedly would keep it from twisting in the six-sided hole in the mid-frame. The section on the right is the "crush or self-clinching" area that compress's and flares out on the inside of the frame.

Once you get it crushed down, you can take the bolt out and the nut stays in there. Even with small hands, there is no way to get anything else in there to work. The bracket for the seat adjuster covers up what limited access there is.

Thanks for looking.

Gart

It is similar to a hollow wall anchor with exception of the hexagon section by the face. It does the same things as:

Looks like a nut zerk to me,
also called blind nut, huck nut, orcompression nut.
takes a special tool to install them that looks like a pop rivet gun.(small sizes up to 3/8 )
used in places that you have to use a bolt but cannot get to the back side to use a nut.
lemme know if you need a pic of the tool, where to get it or how to use it.
I usemine weekly in my work.
