Why not drive in, and use the incline to help you roll it out. Be careful, make sure you have sure footing, you do not want to loose balance!
This is exactly what I do. The less paddling around, the less chance of dropping a bike.

My garage is on a slight incline, I drive in and roll out. Works like a charm.

I'm 6' 235+ with 32" inseam and when I first rode my Electra Glide Classic it was 12' long and weighed 8,000 lbs! You'll get better and it will get smaller as you go.In my opinion balance is the most important thing to focus on. Watch out for inclines and getting sideways on one, the downhill side can be way too long!!

Take your timeand use small steps and use the front brake to keep your gains, mind the bike so it doesn't get away from you, keep it balanced and don't hurry and you can put it where ever you want. New bike seem to move easier in neutral with the engine running. The back rest does help by providing something to push against when backing up. Watch what you're walking on, small gravel, oil, water anything slippery can cause you to lose footing. Take your time and don't get in a hurry or distracted!

Personally,I would go with the lower seat before lowering the bike because of what lowering does to the ride etc.

Ride well,

Jim

I don't know if it's just my ultra, but when I have a hard push backwards, I put the trans in netural and the bike is easier to move. My wife refuses to push the bike so I do my best to not get in the position to have to push uphill. I live in a motorhome and the bike is kept in an enclosed trailer, I have to push the bike each time I take it out of the trailer. I'm also a short guy, 30 inch inseam, so I have to work a little harder for the rear push.

bob_kikkert: Congrats on getting your new UC; after some seat time, you will see how well you'll be able to manuever the weight!

This is true. I also started with a V-Star 1100 which I believe was about 620 lbs. Going to an Electra Glide Classic at 800 lbs seemed like a huge jump and at first the E-G seemed like a battleship. But you do get used to it and soon enough you'll be slinging it around with no problem.

Just wait till you get into a situation where you have to try to turn and back the 800 pound bike on a blind 2 lane narrow road with a ditch on both sides of you and you are alone!... Not only is the 800 pound bike heavey, it's long... All that on and uneven surface like an old 2 lane road in a nightmare.

Yep I was following my nose one day and ended up on a two lane road that quickly turn into a gravel path... an old logging road in the hills of Southern Ohio and I was riding a brand new Ultra... all alone. Got it turned around without loosing it but lost about 30 pounds of sweat! Was a work out for this 60 year old...

Suggestion, don't ride the mountain roads alone!

I'm waiting for Harley to put a reverse kit on the baggers before I buy another!

I'm 5'8" w/32" inseam and weigh 145 soaking wet. First thing I did was lower the rear of my Ultra 1" by using 12"air shocks made by Ultima.

Do not take the wife for a ride untill you are comfortable handeling this bike !!

Take a riding course if necessary toimprove yourslow riding skills, then practice the moves

Now the healthy stuff- I've worked out and run for 25 years, but neverpushed weightto strengthenmy legs. I've changed my workouts to include leg lifts and I now cross train using my mountain bike. I noticed a big difference within weeks. Give it a try ... good for your heart to.
