But you are still using the paper filter, right?

Something wrong with SE ?
It's paper and resticks air flow and cannot be washed. So yes, it's junk.

Do a search or check with Dawg.

He took the old K&N, drilled new holes, plugged the old ones. Several people have done it.

The K&N filter fits physically, just the holes are in the wrong spot.

That or wait. I'm sure they or others willcome out with one soon and the SE should workuntil then.
I saw that post and that is an option.

What about the SE Heavy Breather? It is really sharp looking, maybe someone will post up a pic of one on a bagger.....
It will not work when you have lowers with glove boxes. A buddy have one and powder coated it black, looks awesome!!

K&N HD-1508 for all the 08's
Like I stated earlier, that filter is for the stock back plate.

what was the major change that doesn't allow you to use the older ones? I have an 07 SG and just installed an A/C kit from my old 04 softail. fit like a glove.

whats wrong with the SE?

Works fine for me.

If you want to do more engine mods, such as cams, I would go with Woods system.

Woods will build you what you want to any size and will fit to the 08. Give him acall.

There is the new Vance & Hines VO2. Don't think anyone here has tried it yet. I was considering it just to be different.
