I have a pair of these, just the bag1 style, no waterbottle and they are built just as well if not better than HDs

What is this leather pouch I see on some saddle bag guards? Is this the water bottle holder and if so how is the comfort for the passenger? What all does it come with? Looks like it would come in handy for the driver for carrying a beverage.

The bags are surprisingly useful and large enough to put quite a bit of stuff. When I bought the SG I quickly installed some saddlebag guards and the bags, both for the protection and utility both afford. FWIW, I don't like the smaller type with the bottle holder because the contents in the bottle quickly heat up being exposed to the heat from the engine and the lack of insulation. Using an insulated bottle and putting it inside one of the bags, ice water stays cold for several hours in summer. On trips I bring powdered Gatorade, and at every stop top up the bottle with ice from the drink dispenser almost all stations have, then add a scoop of Gatorade and water when needed. This ice melts but keeps things cold for quite a while. It's a good system I've used for 10 years or more. I wouldn't want to do without these bags.

I just, just bought a set used off of eBay. $106 bucks, not a bad price, in Canada they are $91.95 plus tax each,$209.64 for two.
iclick, I really like your idea abought using an insulated cooler, and on my bike there is no pipe on the left side so maybe it will stay cold even longer if I put it in that side.
