Default Exhaust Pipe discoloring

I just bought an 08 Ultra. The exposed part of the exhaust on the right side is beginning to discolor. This is the part that is not covered by the chrome. Just wondering if that is normal. Steve

I have an 08 RKC (Completely Stock) and have the exact same question?? After 500 miles I am seeingthe exhaust pipe from the front cylinder yellow also. Are other people seeing the same thing on these new bikes? Iunderstand the whole "heat" issue but did not expect the discoloring.I don't suppose there is an exhaustshield made that will extend further to cover this area?? Glad the question was asked......Maybe more of the new owners can weigh in.

Have an 03 WG with no discoloration.

NORMAL..

HD does make a heat shield for that (Like you would think they would have already included - But NO it's a accessory) - Kuryakyn also makes a cover "Bridge The Gap"

Thanks for the info...I have both books and it looks like HD has only "flamed" shields. But the"bridge the gap" piece looks like it would be the ticket....specially made for touring bikes with that ugly shield gap....Thanks again..
