Default chrome bolts ????????

im noticing the HD fog lites and Kury hiway pegs i put on are starting to rust bot only on the bolts that hold em together. is there a good local place to buy good quality chrome replacements in the allen head design. by local i mean HDepot/Lowes ect...

also i notice the chrome covers on my black engine sport a blnd looking allen head bolt. what is the best cure for this? and MORE IMPORTANTLY am i inviting leaks where i now have none by doing a cosmetic mod and changing these bolts??

Do you have a Fastenal store in your area? I've bought a variety of chrome bolts/nuts at one here....don't know if they have the alan heads, but they did have a pretty good variety.

+1 on ace hardware. I put some on my old kz900, from ace, 5 years ago, and they still look new.

I prefer stainless steel, which you can sometimes get at the hardware places as well. The trouble with the chrome ones is that when you wrench on them, you sometimes crack the chrome.

BTW you can get plstic caps for them at some dealers.

Yea, Ace is the Place. But to be honest quality chroming is becoming a lost art. You should see the difference between "shelf" stuff and the privateers. Worth the few extra bucks to send your stuff out now days.

i put clear finger nail polish on chrome bolts and inside chrome allen head bolts and it works pretty good to prevent rusting. it hard to notice it on there too.
