I just called my local dealer for a quote on installing chrome lowers on my 99 RK. They charge 2.5 hours labor @ $80/hr. That's $200. I don't think changing springs would add that much to the cost. You have to take the fork apart to swap the internals into the chrome lowers anyway.
Please tell me you had more work done for $545 labor than just this install. If not, that dealer is getting away with murder charging around $200/hr, or they owe you some money back.
My dealer just told me the book says 4 hours. They charge $70 an hour so we are talking $280. He also said he woudnt charge for the lowering kit install or the the install of the floating rotors. Time to get it in to the dealer ...
It cost me around $360.00 including the progressive lowering kit to have mine done and it was a real booger since I have a roadglide. They had to take the ignition apart to get to the forks from the inner fairing side.
They charged me $90 per hour here-both dealerships in my area charge same hourly (L.A area is not cheap!). 5 hours for complete front chrome package (which is not just lowers, it also includes uppers and other stuff-see catalog for all parts) for a total of $450. Also charged me an additional .55 hours for the install of lowering kit for a total of $49.50. Also charges of $9.90/ SE heavy fork oil, $21.50 oil seal and $1.98 for another oil seal. Grand total $532.88 without tax.
