I have the adjustable and YES, I do adjust it from time to time to change positions. Along with the Kurry Cruise Boards I have, the backrest is awesome. I can "wedge" myself in between the highway boards and the backrest. 300 miles is more like 100 now.

Yes, you do sit more forward but it's not an issue with the highway pegs.

Mustang. Adjustable and suprisingly comfortable for how thin it is. HD adjustable can get some passengers a bit crowded.

I have the HD adjustable, it's alright but does push me forward. My seat should be back soon from Mean City and I hope the mod. fixes that. I rubbed my butt raw last year on a 2400 mile trip in July. Moving forth and back when you're sweating makes for a long day and baby powder in your boots.

One thing you have to consider is the condition of your back. If your back is in good shape, you may be very well pleased with the non adjustable. I suffered a compression fracture in my back several years ago after getting thrown from a horse, and I simply cannot ride long distances without my adjustable. When my back starts to hurt, I can reach down, pull the lever, and adjust it. Simply changing the rest a 1/2 inch in either direction changes my spine angle, and pressure points, and allows me to ride on until I need to change it again, and that small adjustment makes all the difference in the world. So for me, the adjustable was the only way to go, and the extra 150 dollars was worth every penny.

Thanks for the input, everybody. I guess I'll pony up the extra bills for the convenience of changing on the ride with the adjustable. My tailbone is messed up and changing angles, etc. has got to help take the pressure off, or at least change the pressure point.Highway pegs have helped, but I tend to slouch. Anything has to be better than just a cooler and forward controls like I had on my Sporty. Sifularson, your Cruise Boards look cool and I like the idea of them. Where did you order them from?

I have ridden bikes for 22 years and so far one of the best investments IMO has been the adjustable rider backrest. I have the HD backrest and even though it is pricey, so are all of the other ones. I have heard many people complain about theHD backrest, saying that it wasn' t comfortable for them. I am short, 5' 8" to be exact andHD's works for me.
