HAS ANYONE DRILLED HOLES IN THEIR BAFFLE INNER RING SLEEVE?
I just drilled some 3/8 holes all around my inside baffle ring. Sounds a bit louder, but has a less beefier tone. Thinking of drilling the outside ring as well. Has anyone ever done this or am I just clowning around. I don't like the loudness of my Samspsons without the baffles cause they are just obnoxiously loud, but I do want it to be maybe 30 percent louder than with the baffles. Other wise can anybody give me a heads up on some good slip on mufflers for my King that are pretty loud, but not as loud as drag pipes. And beefy tone. Thanks.
Also Iv'e heard of cutting out the inside ring of the baffle and shortening it to like 4 to 6 inches long. Mine are 12 inches long. Will this give me a louder tone and not mess with my carburator?

I doubt anyone can answer your question about drilling "some" holes. I've read on here where people have drilled around on their mufflers but I don't know or remember any that were happy with the results. My guess is you just ruined your baffles.
Ride well,

Remove muffs and drive rebar or pipe thru center of baffle to knock out thin metal plug.....super easy and cheap noise maker that still sounds quiter than Sampsons......
I got a new pair od OEM take offs if you decide you screwed them up.

Not sure WHAT you drilled ?
You have to "Knock out the plug" if you are going to keep your stock pipes. To do this, take off your stock mufflers and insert a big-***-bar into the muffler once you have removed it...hit the bar with a BIGhammer until theplug comes out. Do this to each muffler. Reinstall the muffler...go ride. Enjoy the Potato-pot-ato.Best by far is still to get aftermarket pipes and get rid of those 2 into 1 into 2 sum-bitches.Then got the re-map, spend another $3,000 to make it run like it should. (In the "OLD" days we would re-jet the carb, but with EFI you need to re-map it....then you are good to go.)
Did that help ?

Just for the record I went ahead and drilled the outer ring to and boy did I get a good sound out of my sampsons. Also it seems to run alot better like its not so constricted anymore. On the highway it kicks *** too. I get a beefy sound with a high ring to it.

Knocked out the end caps on my 06 EG stockers. Started with a piece of rebar sharpened to a point, then moved to a 3/4" piece of steel rod. There's two caps in each pipe and I had to pound like hell with a 3 lb. hammer. Came out with a good dose of tennis elbow from all the pounding.
I'm happy with the results. They sound much better than stock, but not obnoxiously loud. No problems with the fuel mixture.
