RE: keep neck, face and ears warm with half helmet
I have a half helmet with the zip out earpieces. I carry a fleece neckwarmer and a thermax balaclava (aka skimask) for cold weather riding. I have a beard year round so my lower face doesn't hardly notice the cold. My only gripe is my glasses fog up wearing the balaclava when I stop.

I have a Z1R Nomad helmet with removeable neck and ear flaps. Been riding in 40 degrees and my head is fine. Got a neoprene type mask and neck cover at the HD store that works great.
Used the helmet in Phoenix with the neck curtain removed. Both of best worlds. I have problems with full faced helmets...I get kinda claustaphobic.

All the H-D, Bar & Shield stuff looks good. From my experience, it looks better than it works. If you have a ski, camping, anything outdoors kinda store, check them out. They usually have some first class products that you will be more than happy with.

RE: keep neck, face and ears warm with half helmet
I have a beany helmet that I use. I have a toboggan/watch cap that goes under it to cover my ears, forehead and back of my neck. I have a heavy scarf/wrap that goes around my neck/lower face and down into the front of my jacket. I also have a removable face shield that snaps into the visor snaps on the helmet.
I have ridden in 20 degree weather for some considerable distances with this setup and been resonably comfortable. If I did a lot of cold weather riding, I would have some heated stuff. At least a vest and gloves.
Regards,
Bill
