RE: Help on how to look for new Grips
Kuryakyn ISO grips are very comfortable. The left side stock grip is cut off. The right side is easily disassembled. It’s explained in the here in the do it yourself section. Buy yourself the service manual for your model HD. Too many grips to make an opinion. I’m using HD heated stealth grips and I think that there the bomb. I wish they would make heated grips that looked like women’s breasts. The nipples could be the throttle dogs.

Changing the grips is very easy. The right side is removed by lengthing the throttle cables all the way and then removing that grip. You'll have to removed the switch housings to do it. Get yourself a factory service manual....it shows every step with photos and torque values.....
After you change the throttle grip....then you will change the left side grip. The trick to this is to change the right side first...so you can line up the left side grip when you put it back together. The left side grip does not need to be cut off. It will come off by just grabbing it tightly and twisting it off...if nothing else works.....cut it off....but I have changed a lot of grips and have not had to cut any yet.
The trick to making the grips tight is to make sure you remove the old adhesive first with some sandpaper strips and then wipe then down with some alcohol and then when you put the adhesive on the inside of the grips...make sure to use an acid brush to evenly spread the glue...a popcycle stick works good too.....
When you slide the left side grip on...make sure your lined up with the rubber pads in the same place as the right side ones because once you slide it on....it's on!
Good luck.

I use the Kuryakyn ISO grips and they are great, esp. on a long trip. I've got the little paddle for your palm which helps take the pressure off having to always hold the grip when it's not on cruise control. It's one of the few "add ons" on my stock bike.
