Default Cut the grab strap off? or What?

Yah, I know, I took the bags off, unscrewed the left side
philips ok, but the right side is buttoned down with a Brad.
Question, do I cut the strap off or is there a better way to
remove the grab strap? Probably a dumb A$$ question but,
sure could use an answer. Strap is useless & ugly IMO.
Thanks for your time.[sm=bangbang.gif]

Yah you used to have to remove a saddle bag bracket just to get the seat off. They made things easier by adding the screw to one side. It used to be such a PITA just to get the seat off that nobody would ever put the strap back on. I think HD is encouraging you to keep the strap. I took mine off and bought a shirt that say if you can read this .....

I changed to the 08 Tallboy seat, and the strap that came with the seat is too long - sloppy. But the seat didn't feel that stable since it's kinda long, so I modified the original seat strap to accomodate both seats. I cinched it uptowhere it's nice and snug on the new seat, punched a new hole and put the screw and washer through to the securing nut. Even changed it to the right side for easier access. Now if I want to swap seats I just have to loose the one side and not actually remove anything.

I didn't like it, so I just used a razor blade on one side. Looks a lot better with it gone........

Unbolted mine, don't care for the look when installed, plus easier to remove seat for servicing.

For a road trip you can put tent, sleeping bag etc. on passenger seat and use the strap for bungee cords. Other end of bungee goes to tour pac rack.
