I kept mine cause it covers the slit for the back rest but there was still an issue.
I use seats from the EGC and RK. The straps are not the same length.
One side has the screw and I just tacked a 1/4-20 nut on the back of the one from the other side.
Now I can change seats without removing the saddle bag or bracket.

I drilled out the rivets and reinstalled the chrome brackets so I can use the holes to hook bungees in. Works great and you hardly notice the bracket.

Dang, I had not thought of that, Orion1369. Thanks. I guess I'll be putting my chrome brackets back on sans strap.

I think the seat looks better with it on-makes the seat look smaller. I took the strap to a shoe repair place and had the guy cut a short section of it near the buckle then added a small peice of leatherwith snaps on it. Don't have to remove the buckles anymore to get the seat off.
