He was stating there is a minimium distance that the turnsignals can be if used as Red running lights and brake lights. I doen't think that is true. I'll do some research on Virginia laws in regards to this.

I found that too, Harleypingman.

"69462-06A

Fits '02-'03 XL, '02-later Dyna® (except FXDXT), and '02-later Softail® (except FXSTD/I) models with stock bullet-style turn signals. (NOTE: Does not meet DOT standards when installed on '04-later FLHRS, FLTR, FLHTCSE models, '05-later FLSTN and FLSTS models, or models equipped with Bullet Rear Turn Signal Bar Kit P/N 68615-04 or 68617-04.)

So legally he is giving me company policy.

Yeah but did the J.A. tell you that if you stand on your head on tuesdays that it would be OK to run this setup, sounds like your dealer rep is an ex-DMV looney.

I'm in Utah, my dealer recommended it and I went with it. No problems so far.

Yeah they may look cool but, those ambers you take off could save your bacon in a foggy rain. If you put on smoke lenses with amber bulbs they don't look so bad and you still have the amber emergency flashers

I was told by the parts man at my local dealership that I can't put the Brakelight/Running Light Kit on the Street Glide rear turnsignals. That it's illegal because the turnsignals are too close to the tail light. If I had the wide turnsignas like the FLHT it would be fine. This is in Virginia, has any one else heard of this?
I also swapped the orange for red (rear) turnsignals 3 years ago.
In Europe (where I live) it's illegal too.
No cop ever pulled me over.
Just go for it [8D]

Been running them for about 16,000 miles thru 8 states and have had no problems. I say the more red in back the better.

I got the same information when I tried to buy the kit for my Street Glide in Virginia. I told them to sell it to me anyway and I installed it. I rode in Virginia with those lights for 25k miles without any problems. I even rode in DC without issue and you know how they are...

I was told the same thing in Utah. I went down the road to another dealer and bought it without telling them what bike it was for, just rattled off the part number. It's simple to install (and I hate working with anything that involves electricity). I've had it on the RK Custom for 3 years. 2 pull-overs by police (one in Utah, one in Michigan) and neither officer said a thing about my lights being too close together.
