I Feel this would would be an officer discretion call. Officers that that ride regularly and in a group(problably) understand the integrity of the group and may over look it. On theother hand in Texas it states that an operator is required to stop, Unless directed by a police officer or traffic control device.

The Second part of this is that the civilian impeding traffic can also be issued a ticket.

Alocal Pd cited a private funeral escort company for many things like using red and blue lights onnon emergency vehicle, some even had sirens. They would also conduct traffic control at intersections. To the extreme that onsingle lane roadways they would push on coming traffic onto the shoulder to allow them to move to the front of the prescession. The PD issued several tickets an impounded numerous motorcycles. The owner of the company was taking the City to court, I do not know what the final out come is/was.

Could be different in other states. Just use good judgement and Good Luck

Look at it from the cages view point. A bunch of bikers, holding up traffic so the bikes can go. Sure gives us all a bad name. I rode with a group of Blue Knights (all in civilian attire) last year and they blocked the intersections. I was embarrassed to be in the group and broke off as soon as we got to the next stop. Won't ride with them again.

Seen it done countless times...this past weekend some A.B.A.T.E. guys tried it and almost got one of their members sideswiped. Definately danger close. I just talked to a couple of the PD's to inform them of a Poker Run I am putting together in Julyand they politely asked that we refrain from performing this maneuver.IMHO not worth it.

When I am riding with a group, we usually pull up to the stop sign in two's then cross together when it is clear.

Not a LEO here...."roadguard" is probably illegal but have done it many times when I've been in a group of 100+. Once going through a town here in Ohio at a light I pulled up to an intersection to roadguard and as I looked over to see what was pulling up it was a town cop. He did not say anything to me or follow us the rest of the way through town. It was a group of about 150 so we definatly blew through the light a few times...

"Blocking is illegal" Its all been done before, but like anything else. Get caught pay the price. As a Ride Capt and Officer in our Riding club, our National is very clear about it as well. Now I will say that sending your sweep up the road to swing around and slow enough to allow everyone a clear passage to the right does help. but again i,m not even sure if thats legal.

Leo's even have to stop, for stop signs lights etc., legally; that's why they came out with opticom's to change their light to green.
