RE: Click? won't start
One click and one click only.
Starter is stuck in engaged position or a bad starter or loose connection at the starter.
starter relay, solenoid and starer all ground via the starter mounting bolts.
what is the voltage on the gauge!
what is the voltage when you push the start button?
I didn't mean spin it.
Put bike on jack, put in gear then with force turn rear wheel forward and back.
make the tranny move. If solenoid stuck in the drive position, hard rocking will
tend to release it.
But if not locked then it is definitely a electrical connection.

RE: Click? won't start
You might just use a jumper wire to work your way down from the output of the relay to where thesmall wire is connected on the soleniod. Might just still bean open somewhere between +12V and the solenoid even after the relay closes (bad relay contact or plug connection somewhere).
Careful dawg - if there really is an open somewhere then the solenoid and starter will work just fine as soon as you jumper past the bad spot so make sure you're in neutral. I whsh you had one of those cheap Radio Shack multimeters - would be safer.

Even though all connections were tight and double checked for tightness, I took everything apart and then rehooked it all up and viola! fired right up. Was in a hurry this a.m. prior to running daughter to school and started out the wrong way....attempted taking apart the starter connection before unhooking the battery...DOH! after the spark show I damn near welded my wrench to the rear cylinder

Glad you got it fixed!
